Amber Tarling

I have been teaching piano for 23 years in the lower mainland. I have my ARCT diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Canada, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. I currently teach piano from my home studio in Coquitlam, and specialize in teaching beginner students the necessary fundamentals and base work that is required for long-term, effective piano playing. I teach all levels of Royal Conservatory, but also teach Jazz, Ragtime, blues, and popular/contemporary. I use digital media in my studio to help students with their learning and will often create/transcribe specific arrangements for students with small hands or beginners. I am friendly, but firm, organized, and professional. I work hard to treat each student as a unique and important learner, who brings his/her own set of skills and challenges to the bench. Music should be accessible for everyone!!

I also provide 1-1 music therapy and/or modified piano lessons for adapted learning/specific needs. I specialize in work with kids on the Autism Spectrum, as well as those with behavioural and/or sensory integration challenges.
