MusicShare

What is MusicShare? MusicShare is a fundraising initiative to support music education for local school students and is sponsored by the Coquitlam/Maple Ridge Registered Music Teachers’ Association.

What are the goals of MusicShare? Funds raised support instrument programs with rental for students in financial need and/or instruments, equipment or supplies (band, orchestra) for school music programs.

How does MusicShare work? Piano students are encouraged to host their own home recitals, inviting friends and family. This helps develop ownership of their musical development, share their joy of music, and know they are supporting others in music education. Suggested donation is $5/person, $10/family. Students are encouraged to work with their teachers to create a programme of 4 or more pieces.

How are funds collected and dispersed? Funds collected at home recitals are forwarded, by cheque, to the Coquitlam/Maple Ridge RMTA branch for dispersal.

Who will be the recipients of funding? The 2023 - 2024 school year recipients for funding, as chosen by the branch, will be the District 43 Music Department. The branch votes each year to determine where the monies will be directed the following year.

What resources are available for MusicShare participants? Performing students are provided with a letter for parents, invitations for guests and a poster. Teachers are provided with instructions, invitations, business outline and a poster. Businesses and organizations are provided with a business outline plus any of the above as needed.

How can I support MusicShare? We welcome local businesses and individuals to support MusicShare through honorariums, gift cards, etc.
